10th - Gare du Nord hotels & places to stay

We came back to Paris after a number of years absence and wanted a hotel near the Gare Du Nord. We used Secret Escapes after having great success is other locations. This hotel was simply perfect with great service and great rooms. The weather was hot, 33C+ and the rooms were air conditioned. The breakfast was extensive and delicious. The hotel had excellent recommendations for dinner and a bar that was open 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm for happy hour, during which time the genuine Sancerre was just 4 euros/glass! My wife was in heaven. A good base to explore Paris with metor stations at the Gare Du Nord and Gard de LÉst just a few minutes away.

The hotel is very close to Gare du Nord railway station. You can take a train (RER) straight from CDG airport about 10 stations to Gare du Nord and it cost 10.30 euro and then walk from there around 5-6 minutes to the hotel. There is the hop on hop off bus stop at the Gare du Nord railway station (red line) for your first time in Paris, you can easily access to Paris city. The hotel is nice, staff very helpful. I’m satisfied during my staying in Paris. I would recommend this hotel.

Just a block a way for both Gare du Nord and Gare del'Est, it is very convenient go around Paris or going to other cities in France. The room is more spacious compared to other petite rooms you'll usually see in Europe. The reception service is amazing and super friendly! Special mention to Ismail who's always there to help and guide. They have a 24hr reception so they usually ask you to leave the keycard to them for safekeeping and you just need to ask it back when you arrive to the hotel; thus giving you more security! Whenever I travel solo or with my partner, I will book here again!

The hotel and the staff were excellent for out needs. We stayed in a room described as the super double, I believe. It had a king size bed a desk and french doors opening to a view of Blvd de Magenta. The desk staff all spoke English. The hotel is located a half block from an excellent patissierre and that was a daily, sometimes twice daily stop for us. The Gare l'est and the Gare du nord are each about a half kilometer from the hotel. These are major transportation hubs where you can catch the metro, a bus or a train to anywhere in Paris or anywhere in Europe. We were in this hotel eight nights and the last night we had to change rooms because of a plumbing problem. I still gave the highest rating for this place because of the way the staff handled the problem. They felt worse about our inconvenience than we did. I gave the facilities a lower mark because there really are none. There is no work out room. No pool, no bar. There is a buffet breakfast downstairs and we ate there one day. It was good. It is an additional cost and as i mentioned we loved the little bakery up the street. I highly recommend this hotel

Pros - Balcony rooms overlooking street provide interesting views of main road below. Its location directly across from Gare du Nord made Eurostar and Metro access SO easy. Room was very quiet, even though it faced street. Cons - neighborhood itself has some sketchy characters on street and around station plaza, especially at night. But hotel itself is very secure and, if you can get a balcony room, there are always people, traffic, Paris life to watch below.

The duty managers were really friendly, especially Sammi who was always ready to answer our questions. Thank you Sammi! Location was great - right across Gare du Nord station, taxi stands on every corner, and metros just a minute walk away. Big Bus hop on hop off buses stop in front of the hotel. Paris Open Tour buses stop in front of the Gare du Nord station. Right downstairs is Cafe du Nord, a great restaurant we went to at least 3x! There are a lot of resto options all around, Carrefour is 2 blocks away, as well as Leader Price; Western Union is also nearby if you need forex services. Lift is small though and can carry only 3 pax at a time (me and my luggage barely fit lol). We took the winding stairs a lot as Sammi kindly assigned us on the first floor knowing that my 75 y/o Dad cannot walk too much (my Dad easily managed the stairs in case the lift was unavailable). All in all a great stay; will gladly stay here next time we're in Paris!

Very accessible location, less than 5 mins walk from Gare Du Nord and from there you can take metro to anywhere in Paris!! Though the area is a little sketchy when the night falls. Free unlimited supply of breakfast is added bonus for those travelling in budget. Spacious bunk bed with personal light, curtain, plug and the best part is the USB charging port!!Bboth the dormitory area and bathroom are clean only one note is that the water in the shower room was too hot. Staff members were very friendly and helpful in answering all your queries. The lounge next to it, Belushies was incredible at night with daily events and special price for fellow hostel guests and breakfast is served here every morning!! Definitely a highly recommended stay when you visit Paris!!

I have stayed here many times and have always found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and the staff to be welcoming and accommodating to my needs. The proximity to the Gare du Nord and to Metro, RER and bus lines makes it very convenient to travel to and from other parts of the city and also to CDG Airport and Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany. In summer, the rooms are very efficiently air conditioned, and the internet connection has always performed well. A variety of restaurants are also within walking distance.

Very pleasant hotel 5 minute's walk from metro Chateau de l'eau. This is only a couple of stops from the Gare du Nord where there's the eurotrain. Ligne 4 also takes you to Gare Montparnasse and trains to the regions. Hotel room was clean and not too small with very good bathroom. You can ask to be on quiet side. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Nice breakfast in bar area. Many interesting looking restaurants - didn't try as I went down to the Louvre and Notre Dame areas - easy one stop changes on metro. Don't be put off by noisy colorful people and shops around the metro near the hotel - they are just trying to entice customers into nail and hair salons. I asked for directions and everyone was very pleasant.

We stayed at the Avalon with our four daughters (18, 17, 13 and 11) and had a wonderful time. The hotel is situated near the Gare Du Nord train station and Metro so very easy to access. It’s also only a short walk from the Sacre Coeur. The staff were extremely welcoming and very helpful. We had two triple rooms and both were fairly spacious and clean. The service staff were very efficient. Despite being on a main road, the double door windows kept out most of the noise, and each room was equipped with air conditioning unit(s). And this was needed as it was over 30 degrees at times when we were there! The absolute bonus for us was a balcony for both rooms, so we could sit and watch the area on an evening or first thing in the morning. For what we paid, and the location, this was a major plus. Paris is a beautiful city, and we had a fabulous time. The Avalon Hotel absolutely added to the experience.

This was the third time we've stayed here in 12 months. First time was in Eurostar package. Highly recommend for budget traveller wanting clean room right opposite Gare du Nord. We prefer to spend our cash on shopping and afternoon tea rather than a plush hotel!! We were 2 ladies on a girly jaunt and weren't a bit put off by the area. Felt safe and everyone friendly. Give this great hotel a try!

The hotel rates itself as a 3 star, Its a high quality 3 star. Convenient for Gare du Nord, Gare de l'est, and Jacques Bonsergent metro stations. There are many lovely cafes on this street and it is a short walk from place de la republique. The room was very clean and comfortable, modern decor. Traffic on the street below was a little noisy when we had the window open, but not a problem with the window closed. Would recommend to anyone.

stayed 3 nights in early december 2012. rooms are clean and cleaned daily. bathroom cum toilet is very clean and looks as though it has been recently refurbished. the hot water comes quickly. room is heated. 15 mins walk to gare du nord station and 5 mins to gare de l'est station so it is easy to get to the tourist sites with a map of the paris metro/rail system. there is a supermarket nearby to the right(also sells halal chicken) and also a fresh-produce market a few doors away to the left on the same street. food and transport is no problem. hotel rates are ok for paris (around 90 euros daily). so what more do you want. we had front rooms. other reviewers say that the front rooms near the street can be noisy at night but we never had any noise problem throughout our stay there. highly recommended.

Very strategic location, the staff were very committed & helpful. The lift seems like only meant for luggage. But it's okay for me to take the stairs. Since our room was just on the first floor. If u r coming from London via the Euro-train, then this place is just 5-8 minutes walking from the arrival terminal station (Gare Du Nord). For muslim like me, there are a lot of halal restaurant around. u can have kebab, biriyani, etc easily. From this hotel to eiffel tower, etc. U can take the subway. it is just located 50m away from the hotel. U can purchase the mobilis ticket (it is like the oyster card in London) but this ticket expired daily. Very convenient to travel anywhere using the subway from this hotel.

Nice staff, very helpful, location very strategic, can not be better entrance to train station only less than 10 m to the hotel entrance, very close to two big train stations , Gare de L’est and Gare du Nord, both stations can be reached by foot within less than 15 minutes, size of the room , okay, breakfast good enough, if the hotel management can provide salads will be better ( like what we got in Ibis München)

As with all reasonably-priced centrally located hotels in Paris, the room size was just adequate, whilst the bathroom was small. One thing I very much appreciated was the location of the hotel (being very close to both Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est); I was a little less appreciative of the busy road location as the sound insulation wasn't so great. Probably my room was worse for outside traffic noise as it looked out directly on Bd Magenta; most probably inside rooms were quieter. That said, sound insulation room-to-room wasn't brilliant - although it was adequate enough to give me decent nights' sleep. The free wifi was a real plus.

We stayed here for 4/3 nights and would recommend this hotel to anyone intending to stay near the Gare du Nord area. It is within walking distance to the train station (which is easier to get to) than using the Metro. We know, coz we tried both. Furthermore, there is a Metro station just cross the road which will take you straight to center of Paris. The hotel service is great with English speaking staff who is very helpful. Housekeeping is good with daily cleaning and we always find our room in meticulous condition each time we came back, which definitely makes our stay very comfortable. Breakfast is great too even if there are some types of food which pops up every day. Oh ya, they also have a garden inside the building where you can take your breakfast to and eat within a green setting. Nearby is a Carrefour Express for your daily convenience items. There are also a number of food joints around if you care to walk around, especially if you were to walk to the canal nearby.

Modern design, the room is well decorated with everything you need. The view of Gare de L'est (Paris east station) is nice from our window :-) The subway (Paris Metro) entrance is just about 50M away from the hotel, and it is less 10-min's walk to Gare du Nord (Paris north station). The dining room is sweet, made me feel like at home... and the staffs are all friendly and helpful :-) Well, the only thing is, the logo is not very obvious from outside, it took us a little time and we finally found the entrance after passed through it for 3 times~ :-)

Initially I have booked 2 nights in Libertel Gare de l'Est via Agoda 2 days before going to stay there. On the day itself, when I was there, I was informed that due to technical issue, when I booked the stay, all rooms have been fully booked. But because I have fully paid for my stay via Agoda, they have arranged myself to stay at Hotel Libertel Gare du Nord which is 5 minutes walk away. Of course, I was quite frustrated at the first place as all I want to do at that moment was to check in, have a good shower and rest due to the all day walk under the hot sun. But they keep telling me it is only 5 minutes walk away. Considered myself bad luck. It was a good stay at Hotel Libertel Gare du Nord as the staffs are really friendly and they gave me a nice room with great view. However, I prefer to stay to stay in Hotel Libertel Gare de l'Est as I really like that hotel and it is nearer to the station (which I need to take TGV back to Luxembourg). Gare du Nord is more of a modern hotel and Gare de l'Est has nicer design.

No big complaints about the hotel. Good location next to Gare Du nord - easy walk. Clean hotel, no aircon, good wifi - had to leave to early so didn't try the breakfast. Only problem is trying to find the hotel. It doesn't exist. You will be booked a room in the Avalon Hotel - which is at 131 Magenta (133 is the apparent location on paris Residence - that address is boarded up and closed). So tell your taxi driver to go to Avalon and if you're walking look for Avalon Hotel.

Conveniently located steps from Gare du Nord (Eurostar) and Metro lines. Uniquely appointed decor with lobby and rooms designed to reflect the era of luxurious train travel across Europe. Room was very comfortable albeit a bit snug, again reflecting the feel of an overnight train compartment. The bed was very comfortable and the modern bathroom spotless. Would happily stay at the Whistler on our next visit to Paris. Staff was warm and welcoming. Numerous restaurants with a 5 minute walk (or less)

the hotel is well located, just steps from the entrance to the subway line 4/5. it is also just around the corner to the train station. gare du nord station. the hotel itself is small - 2 star. it is competitive in price for the area and in paris ! the room is ok. bed is nice, water pressure good. the subway station is the most convenient to go anywhere for sight seeing and it is not complicated. also took the rer train from gare du nord to cdg aeroport for our return flight. many restrs nearby as well as within 1km range.....
