From September 26th to 29th, 2023, I stayed with my parents and child at the Kandeo Hotel. The hotel is located 5-7 minutes away from Osaka Dotombori and nearby subway stations, making it easy to travel on foot and a great location for sightseeing and shopping in the center of Osaka. Although the accommodation is not very large, it is well-organized and the breakfast offers a variety of menu options, making it highly recommended. Especially, the large bath on the rooftop of the hotel has both indoor and outdoor hot springs, which was very satisfying for washing away the fatigue of a busy Osaka trip. In particular, enjoying the hot springs while watching the sunset, night sky, and moon of Osaka from the outdoor hot spring was a unique pleasure. However, above all, what was memorable was the way the hotel staff handled things. A few days after arriving in Osaka, around 3 am, my child suddenly had a fever of over 40 degrees and we ran out of fever reducers. We urgently needed medical treatment, so we asked the staff on duty on the first floor (Mr. Lee Ho-jae) for help, as our family was not fluent in Japanese. He provided enough help to receive emergency medical treatment on our behalf. Especially, another Korean staff member also provided a lot of help in changing our travel itinerary in a desperate situation where we had to cancel the remaining travel plans. Although our family trip in Japan did not continue as planned, we were deeply impressed by the proactive help and kindness of the Kandeo Hotel staff. We are grateful for the good service and response of these wonderful staff members and hope to stay at this hotel again when we visit Osaka next time.

It was really good. I recommend it for the start of the semester.”
First of all, the room was spacious, which was unexpected for Osaka. It was a twin room and even with two large suitcases open, there was still plenty of space. The room condition was also good and the amenities were nice. However, the amenities sold separately at the reception were a bit expensive. There was a staff member who spoke Korean, which made check-in very easy. I was lucky to be assigned a room that had just been cleaned, so I was able to check in before 2 pm. The hotel also had a great public bath on the 17th floor, which was free to use. The breakfast was clean and well-prepared, with quick refills and a variety of fruits. However, the breakfast was more focused on Japanese cuisine than Western-style dishes, so if you like Japanese food, you will be very satisfied. Overall, I had a great stay for two nights and would definitely come back if there is availability.
Confusing booking, inflexible service downgrades an otherwise good hotel”
Booking from Agoda is very confusing. We searched for 3 adults plus one kid. The hotel room is only for 3 adults so it should have never pop up. When it shows it as 3 adults we thought like US kids stay free so we booked the family room with one king bed and one sofa. And we chose to pay a higher rate than bare room of 3 adults. It says "breakfast included " and becomes "limit 1", so we thought we book the room for 3 adults and one kid, with breakfast for 1 person per day, which is what we want. But just to be sure before finishing reservation I put it remarks asking hotel to make sure this is the option we are paying for. Upon arrival, the hotel says my booking is for one adult and one breakfast only. They can do the one meal ticket per day still, and I can choose to use the 4 tickets all on one day or seperately but needs advance decision, but since the kid is extra, I have to pay extra 10,000 yen for 4 nights. To be fair they did supply some extra amenities for the kid. But I would say the charge I pay is NOT the true price is bad practice. Their limited English also makes communication hard. I just paid and don't bother to argue cos we were tired. But this was a bad check in. Facilities-wise, the rooms are tiny but comfortable. The cleaning staff did an excellent job, just I expect them to vacuum the floor and they did not, probably because the room is so tiny the vacuum cleaner cannot even turn with our luggages inside. We chose the deluxe family room so on 16th floor we had a decent city view (it's a city, what view does it really have other than buildings?!) walk two blocks north (<5 min) there is an Aeon supermarket where things are half the price compare to Lawson or 7eleven, and ice cream is even cheaper, so very convenient for budget eating. Walk south about 4 blocks you will hit the river of Dontunori where you can get all the famous japanese food you want from cheap to super expensive, so it suits the appetite for everyone. It is also 6 minutes walk either north or south to access metro K line. If you don't need elevator to move luggages done exits are even closer than 6 minutes. Post office also very close by past Aeon. So very convenient. Walking distance also to night lives and Shinsaibashi shopping area, including pokemon center for the kids. So no complain about the location. The top floor has onsen opened from 3pm (check-in ) till 11 am checkout time. It is a plus if you want the experience it. It has both indoor and outdoor onsen but don't expect a view like the advertisement photos. You are naked and don't want to be seen anyways! If you want the breakfast experience buy it cheap when you reserve. On site adult price is a whooping 2750 yen plus tax. Kids 1650 yen+ , and it is decent only for someone who is used to Western food (I don't want pasta or salad, sausages for breakfast in Japan). Not much traditional Japanese breakfast food on the buffet menu. But food quality is great and staff very friendly. I am glad I only paid for 4 tickets only. Hotel says the bad experience is with Agoda the booking website and not their problem. I think they didn't advertise with correct price or description. This is Asia-culture customer service: not my fault. If you can tolerate that, this is a great hotel. P.S. they do let you store luggages free for late departure. Just their weighing scale is broken and no replacement when I asked if they have one. Luckily there is a big weighing and repacking station at Kaisai airport , although by that time, if you buy too much, your only option is to discard or pay airline. I would advice to prepare your own pocket scale ahead of time.

Candeo Hotels Namba Osaka has a very strategic place for ‘’must see” activities in Dotonbori area, Including one-day trip like Kyoto site seeing, it’s very near 2 Metro Train stations like Nipponbashi Exit 2. This month, Limousine Bus Transport to and from Kansai Airport became available which is very convenient since it’s just a block away from the hotel - just be mindful that the last trip going to the aiport is 4pm local time - takes 50-60 mins to the airport. You can buy tickets in the same bldg which saves time. Front desk is helpful and English savy. The staff who’s cleaning the rooms is also very nice and quick. They refill the water daily inside the room. Onsen or skyspa at the 17F is a plus (public bath). Just read the instruction well and you’re good to go. Very strict on time to the dot. We have a late flight so we had to extend for 3 hrs in the hotel and they charge 2200 yen per hour.
