Ella hotels & accommodations

We spent 4 nights at Misty Hills Resort and we absolutely loved it! The service was amazing and went beyond all of our expectations. Manoj in particular was fantastic and couldn't do enough to help us. Our bedroom was lovely - clean, comfortable and with a 4 poster bed. The wifi initially wasn't working in our room & Manoj did everything he could to ensure this was fix...

Stayed 3 nights at Zion View and would definitely recommend it to anyone spending a few days in Ella. Most rooms have gorgeous verdant views of the nearby Ella Rock perfect for an afternoon in the hammock. The views do come with having to climb up a fairly steep slope from the town to the guesthouse but it’s well worth it and only a short 5-10 min walk to get to town a...

Its a fairly new hotel, so it's very clean and well maintained. the owners are very friendly and helpful. Totally value for money and an awesome location coz its easy to get to all the attractions around ella from the hote and also walking distance to most of the popular eateries. Highly recommended.

After tiring journey from Kandy I was warmly welcomed & shown a lovely room by the pool. Breakfast & dinner was served outside on a private table. One of the key reasons to visit Ella is to see the Ella Gap & rock. The View Hotel is perched on the hillside above Ella Town & has a magnificent view of the Ella Gap. Getting up to see the sunrise has been one of the hi...

had a great stay at Ella gap hotel we chose to hire a motor scooter for 3 days to cover our stay got lost a few time but saw the most amazing scenes this was the high light off our trip waterfalls breath taking scenery, we were going to Liptons seat & took to wrong turn the local doctor stopped put us on the right road, then we took the train from Ella to Colombo in th...

The hosts/owners were so friendly and helpful. They made our stay and our experience of Sri Lanka very special. The resort is walking distance from both the 9-arch bridge and Little Adam's Peak. It's a 1km nice walk or a tuk tuk ride into Ella. A very natual and generally peaceful place (just some traffic noise). Surrounded by trees and we even saw small and large squ...

Its our first visit to Ella Flower Garden Resort with our family we had 03 rooms reserved with them for two nights. We had a great welcome and rooms were given on time without any delay. Very clean and spacious rooms. The B/B option were very famous in Ella due to number of restaurant situated in Ella town plenty of places to dine out and good night life as well. Amazi...

I had a fantastic time at Ella's Edge Resort. I was traveling alone and the staff did all they could to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone was extremely nice and the food was amazing. The cook at the hotel is named Amarawonsc and he makes an excellent curry that changes each day. The kitchen is out in the open and you can peer over the edge and watch to see how they...

Perfect place to stay! Don’t stay in Ella town, it’s noisy, busy and views are poor. This hotel is up the hill so it has incredible views from every room and from the restaurant- the pictures really don’t do it justice. The best view we’ve ever woken up to! Plus, it’s only 5mins in a tuk tuk into town for dinner (approx 300lkr) Nothing is too much trouble for the staf...

The resort is well placed for a chilled out break set within a Tea Plantation and lovely views, an interesting 15 minute walk into main street Ella (Tuk Tuk available for around 300 SLR). The staff are helpful and diligent and a special mention to the owner Rowan who far exceeded any service level to date, he runs the resort with passion and is genuinely a 'nice guy'. ...

We had a pleasant stay in room N7 (specifically prebooked, because it has the best view on the mountains). The room was with fan only, but it was not hot at night at all, so it was alright. The breakfast was very tasty, with well done toasts, fruit plat, eggs and huge pot of tea. The only negative feedback is that our driver didn't get the room in the hotel, even so i...

Absolutely loved our stay here for three nights which was perfect amount of time in Ella. After reading other reviews We booked the double room with mountain view which is at the front right of property. Definitely the best room as it is has both best privacy and best views. Most others have good views also except maybe the two nearest the road. Location is great, far...

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcomed. Nandana, the manager greeted us & took us to our room & made sure we had what we needed. We were enchanted by the amazing view of Ella from our room! Wow, spectacular view! The room was large, clean, & comfortable. It had a sitting area & balcony with chairs to sit & enjoy the view. Needless to say, we slept we...

Great location, just outside of Ella town. The family make you feel welcome straight away. Offering help with places to visit, and offer a great different local breakfast every morning. The room was lovely and had a beautiful view of Adams peak and their very own waterfall. This place for us, made Ella such a lovely visit. Will want to return there again.

We totally fell in love with this place the moment we stepped foot here. The views are incredible. The rooms are huge with balconies that overlook the tea plantations and mountains. It’s right next to the trail up to Little Adam’s Peak, which we did at sunrise. We also rented bikes from the resort and went cycling around the tea plantations and down to Nine Arches brid...

We enjoyed our 2 nights here. Newish chalets with great views towards Adams Peak. Comfortable large bed with welcome addition of mozzie nets. Breakfast was taken on our patio with the lovely view. Dom, the owner, is charming and very helpful. Located a distance from the main street which we liked. Ella seems to cater to backpackers so One Ella is a class above its com...

We thought this is one of the best places we stayed at during our tour around Sri Lanka. The place is a bit difficult to get to (as it is uphill and a fair distance from the town center) but it is still walkable and the view more then makes up for it! Great clean facilities with fast wifi. Absolutely superb breakfast. The staff are also friendly and helpful. We highly ...

This homestay is perfect in location, high up The in the hill looking down to breath taking view. The host Lilu has also added the charm to our stay. She provided us with the best curry dinner we had in our 2 weeks traveling Sri Lanka. The homestay is a short walking distance from Ella train station and town. We walked many times a day along the train track, then onto...

We really enjoyed Lavendra Paradisr. It was our second favourite accommodation in Sri Lanka. The room and terrace are lovely, the breakfast is delicious and the two brothers are really nice and very helpful arranging drivers and making recommendations for what to see and do. There is building work going on and plans for further rooms and a restaurant. But everywhe...

The owner of the Guesthouse and his wife are the most kind and accommodating people who bend over backwards to ensure every guest is happy. As far as budget accommodation goes this is the cleanest and most comfortable place I have stayed. The views are the best in Ella without a doubt overlooking both Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak without anything in the way of the ...

Rooms and bathrooms were large, comfortable and very clean. Probably the best shower we had in Sri Lanka outside of Colombo. Breakfast was large and varied keeping us going the whole day. The family was extremely friendly and accommodating. Location is a few mins walk from the main street where all the restaurants and bars. There's quite a steep walk up to the house ...

The rooms are big and have modern facilities. The beds are very comfortable. There's table and chairs both inside and on your own terrace, where at the moment breakfast is served as they are finishing the construction of the restaurant and garden. Once construction is complete this sure is going to be near the top of the ratings list, it's an all-round pleasant place....
Cheap places to stay in Ella

We stayed here for one night in a Deluxe Double Room. It was basic but had everything we needed - fan, mosquito net. The bathroom was very clean and the hot water worked well in the evening however did not work in the morning, not a big deal though. One thing we would have appreciated is a top-sheet between the bed and the blanket as I would assume the thick blankets ...

The hostel is quite isolated from the city, but nothing that you cannot walk. Unless you also take holidays from staying bait healthy and wanna move around with overpriced, mafia-controlled tuk tuks. It is around 30-40 minutes walking to the city of Ella, but it is also walking distance to Little Adam's Peak and 9 Arch Bridge... or 7 Arch... anyways famous bridge. Ther...

Ella is a mountainous town with really narrow roads. There were no signs to or at Ella mansion at all! Need more road signs to guide travellers. Rooms were huge and very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. We booked the Ac room but at night it was cool and don't really need the Ac. Most hotels in Sri Lanka don't provide shampoo. So bring your own.

Thank you so much White Arcadia for a wonderful experience in Ella! This was by far the nicest part of our trip in Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of so well. The service was perfect. The room was incredibly clean and well-designed. All of the facilities provided are thoughtful and appreciated. The surrounding environment was so serene and pea...

I strongly reccomend to stay at Rosenka Inn, Jagath and his family have been the best guests in my entire stay around Sri Lanka. First mention for the food that Jagath's wife prepares, really traditional but light and absolutely delicious (dinner, lunch, breakfast). Located just outside Haputale (where there is nothing to see particularly), the rooms are very clean an...

Although Ella South Star was quite deep inside the village, it was quite difficult to locate at night, we had to get the Staff to stand by the roadside. Overall the room was clean & we were provided with excellent home breakfast. The Staff was very cordial and the service was more than satisfactory. The morning view from the room was indeed very beautiful.

This place is a must. Ella Valley will stay with you forever. I guarantee thst. The views are exceptional, rooms are clean and comfortable, hospitality is 100% and breakfast are huge and very tasty. Coffee is also very good. just stay here and find out for yourself. My best stay in Sri Lanka.

the room is right next to the dinning area, so u dont get much privacy. but you do have a curtain to cover is all, so not a big issue. bathroom is very clean. no hot water but weather was hot. room was clean, comfy beds. breakfast was ok but no commumication between staff and travelers. the only time we talked was that, we asked us to pay the room and check out when we...

The view here made our stay. The host lady was very polite and made us a lovely dinner one evening. But above all we just loved sitting on the table outside the room staring into the trees and the waterfall beyond. We saw peacocks, monkeys, woodpeckers and lots more in the trees. The beds were comfy with good mozzie nets. Warm shower too. The internet worked ok but we ...

After arriving by train from Kandy the welcoming at New Bleu Home was very friendly. We had a very nice decorated room and bathroom. We stayed for 2 nights. Breakfast was almost to much every morning. We climb Litlle Adams Peak and vist one of the waterfalls. If you take a TukTuk to see things, be sure about the price and what you wanna see! Last but not least; have yo...

If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Ella city then look no further. Chika’s family and guesthouse was exactly what we needed, a place to stay in the hilltops of Ella away from the noise. You get a gorgeous view of Ella rock and sun rise from the terrace. Chika was very attentive but never overbearing. Coffee and tea always offered. Breakfast and dinner...

This is seriously the most beautiful family I had the pleasure of staying with during my stay in Sri Lanka. They made tea for me when i arrived and made me feel so welcome. I felt very safe as a solo traveller and everything you need is al so close. I got sick when i arrived (from a previous place) & was shown the most kindess, they went out of their way for me. I ende...

The room was beautiful, spacious and very clean. Exceptional value for the price! Sanjeewa and Mananthika were both friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. Sanjeewa helped carry our bags up and down the hill and even gave us a free lift down to the main street in his tuk-tuk on our first evening there. They both often asked about our daily plans, and offere...

Perfect location for ella town (10min easy walk) and little Adams peak/9 arches bridge (20mins). Very clean room, clean modern bathroom. Very helpful and friendly family - Provided bowls and spoons for our cereal and let us keep our milk in their fridge, lent us umbrellas and found out bus times for us for our future travel. Good price for the area. Only thing is they ...

This place is a quite and peaceful home about 2 clicks from Ella station by road. You can walk to Ella station along the tracks from here or take another route that goes along the nine arch bridge. It’s a family place. Very polite and helpful in all matters. It’s a home away from home. The mornings and evenings are fantastic. The view from rooms is stunning. Most of t...

Little Heaven Homestay is situated conveniently next to Ella Junction. The rooms are basic and clean, which we were happy with. However the manager was not welcoming or hospitable during our 2 nights there. He did not provide adequate bedding and locked up the facilities when he disappeared each evening at 5pm. This was totally different to the warm and welcoming hosts...

The location is good, close to downtown (under 5 minutes walking) and closer to the train station. The Inn is small (only two rooms), isn't a luxury hotel but it was a very clean room, hot water at shower full time. We choosed Sri Lankan menu breakfast, very tasty and abundant served on the terrace in front of the room. I want to mention the helpful and kind host. He...

We have stayed in a lot of homestays during our trip through Sri Lanka but this one is particularly special. The breakfast is fantastic, room is spacious and clean, and the setting is so peaceful. The whole family are so kind and did everything in their power to ensure we had the best time. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

We were so happy that we found this place in Ella. Room was spacious, and came with a fan. Breakfast was not included, but we ate breakfast there every morning and loved it. The family there is so very, very friendly and helpful. They helped arrange took took to go visit the Tea factory, And did our laundry for us. It is up a quiet, very steep, road, But only a fi...

With a view to die for, a fantastic host family, and a very comfortable room, there is little more that you could want. The balcony has brilliant views over Ella Gap, Little Adam's Peak and Ella rock, and has a very natural setting. The breakfast was just amazing each day, and an evening meal that was prepared by the host Madhu was just sensational. We had a fantastic ...

First things first - it isn't a guesthouse, it's a home-stay. We were one floor (few steps) above the owner family and they were extremely helpful and attentive despite language challenge. Both the room and the washroom are huge (very comfortable) and so is the balcony that provides an amazing view of the hills from different angles. The breakfast was a mix of English ...

I loved my stay! At first I thought the distance from town would be inconvenient, only to find that my favorite place in Ella was at 1964 and taking the local bus or walking to any of the many destinations was a sweet experience in itself and quite easy. I had the best meal I’ve had in Sri Lanka After 3 weeks here, the tea is the best and the family who runs it are so ...

The host was lovely and we were greeted with tea and biscuits too. Its located 7min walk from centre so great for drinks and walking back. Also a cut through to train track for ella rock walk. The room is facing away from the sun so although no aircon the fan us enough as it doesnt get hot. It is close to a garage dump. On the very odd occasion you get the odd smell...

This guesthouse is located UP the hill in Ella. You can walk it and really work that lower body, it took about 30 minutes from the main intersection up to the hostel. You can easily take a tuk tuk up the hill for 300 rupees but then you must climb up 170 steps to the guesthouse (no way around that.) It was fine for us but something you should know and consider if you ...

We are very happy to have chosen Emerald Mirror. The happy and friendly couple Komari and Yaba who run it was very warm and helpful. The place is on a hill but Yaba pick you up at the station and when leaving he took us to the bus station and arranged everything. He also gave us a great tour to waterfalls and accompanied us all the way till the top of the mountain. Ko...

This hotel is a little gem. It's a little bit of heaven in Ella. The attention to detail in the room was amazing. The views are out of this world and the breakfast was fantastic. Sanjee was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. I would have no hesitation recommending this jewel of a place to anyone. I would say it is uphill from town along the railway...

We had a fantastic stay in this guesthouse, mostly due to the kindness of our hosts, that we were such endearing people! We were really sad to say goodbye to them. We decided to stay one night more than planned, due to the fantastic atmosphere and location of the guesthouse. Rooms are basic & clean, our hosts prepared great dinner & breakfast. City center can be reache...
We had a really good time and were well looked after by the superb staff. Our room had sweeping views down the valley and towards Ella town. The hotel is reached by a steep and narrow road which means that it is away from the traffic but still within walking distance of the railway station and the town.

We had a pleasure to stay at Zircon which offers great accommodation and hosting. We were picked up from Ella train station (train was delayed). Accommodation is clean and functional. Food was amazing as well especially when consumed over breath taking views! Hosts on the spot helped us arranging rest of the day (nine arches and little Adams peak tuk tuk ride). They ha...

This Place ist so beautiful and gives you a perfect view how great the nature is, especially in ella with all that tea plants, monsteras and lovely dogs. The flat is very clean, light and new. Ella is one of the most beautiful places to visit if you are looking for scenic beauty. It is a must if you want to enjoy hicks and mountain climbs and waterfalls in Sri Lanka
Real Backpacker Meca, great Chill Lounge, great food, everything in easy walking distance, a few beautiful hikes to do, the old train Haputale is awesome, cheap place to stay, the town understands the young traveler and what they like and provides it.
Ella is a very small cute town, worth anovernight from the train or a short hike up little Adams peak, very pretty area, not a lot in the town itself.
Ella is a town closer to Nuwara Eliya and Habtulla (spelling is not right). If I were to go on a vacation, I would rather book myself on alternate location because it does not have as scenic a landscape as other locations, no mountains either.
Ella is a lovely town with fabulous views and great walks into the tea plantations - many along the train track.
PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN SRI LANKA. I HAVE BEEN TO THIS CITY SINCE THE EIGHTIES AND THEY HAVE DEVELOPED THE MAIN STREET WITH FUNKY BARS AND CAFES (FEW)WHICH MAKES IT MORE INTERESTING FOR THE TOURIST.
Simple hill country town, very rustic, don't expect bars, clubs etc. enjoy the views bird life and tea gardens.
We tried the Ayurveda Spa in Ella. 40 dollars for a 2 hour session. It was an experience, but please be cautious of trying it if you hate 1) oil dripping on your forehead; 2)oily hair after the treatment; 3)Steaming after putting on oil all over the body.
The Badula district mountain scenery around this area not the town is spectacular,ie waterfalls, large variety of trees, animals.
