Lyon hotels & places to stay

I booked through Agoda for the price. I cannot believe the price, for 3 nights with breakfast included. I'm not sure if all the rooms are refurbished, but we were in a refurbished room. It was suberb. The fabrics etc were modern and stylish. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. The bathroom seemed to be like a kit bathroom, like an all in cabin that was installed, but it was superb. One of the best features in the room was a state of the art computer with widescreen that had many features including TV, on demand movies and complimentary Internet access. I rate the location as excellent, this might not be classed as excellent for all, but for those who know Lyon, we arrived by train to Perrache station, and the hotel is 1 minute's walk from here. Even so, it is still only a 7/8 minute stroll to Place Bellecour and of course all the transport systems including Tram and Metro are at Perrache anyway. The only prob we had was a fault with the air con unit, which started leaking water during the 2nd night of 3 and we had to turn it off. This was then Sunday, so the hotel were unable to effect a repair, but we managed to get about 3 hours of air con on the final night before the water started leaking again. This did not affect the stay though - the temp was dropping anyway!!

This was my first hotel in France and when I stepped into the room I thought I was starring in a French comedy. The room had a bed and not much space for anything else; and a bathroom smaller than most wardrobes. However, it's surprising what you can get used to and I quickly adapted to the compact and cosy space. The location is excellent, right by the local and regional transport hub including the train to Paris. The staff were great - typically French in being friendly and helpful. Overall 10/10.

The hotel is nicely located near to the University Lumiere Lyon 2 and other places of interest; one can reach the hole central town well by public transport which runs frequently. There are multiday tickets for the transport available. The breakfast in the hotel is very nice. The room prices are moderate. The staff is friendly and helpful. The infrastructure of the hotel (warm water, internet, ...) might be exhausted at peak hours, so it is good to get up early when one wants a warm morning shower.

We were a group of 4 people in total and booked 2 rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very decent and comfortable, and so were the bathrooms. Regarding the location of the hotel, it wasn't too far off from anything but not too close either. I would say it took us about 20-25 minutes walk to reach Old Lyon, which is the main thing in the city. The only gripe I have about the hotel is the PARKING LOT. The parking lot is VERY, VERY small, and there are pillars in the small lot, so it's very easy to scratch your car if you're not careful. Except the parking, everything else was quite pleasant. Would definitely book again.

My husband and I traveled with his brother around France. The hotel is a five or ten minute walk from Gare de Lyon Part Dieu, which is a major train station with an express train to the airport and to many international destinations. There are also many city buses outside the station. Perfect for a night or two to rest before heading to your next destination. There were a few restaurants near the hotel, as well as a big mall. We walked to downtown Lyon in about 30 mins, but there are also buses to take easily. The room itself was very clean with good Internet and three comfortable single beds. For our group of three, the room was perfect. The hotel is best for those wanting to be near the train station.

I chose this hotel for its excellent location in central Lyon 2e arrondissement near Bellecour subway station. It's a short walk across the Saone river to the old town in one direction and across the Rhone in the other direction, and there are many excellent restaurants of every kind nearby. The street Hotel Elysee is on reminds me of 5th Ave. NYC for its many high-end shops. The hotel room itself was modest and spare. I avoided the narrow elevator because I am easily claustrophobic and felt very confined. Otherwise, staff were helpful and nice.

We found this hotel to be of a high standard in most ways. However, as with most city hotels there was a noticeable impersonal (but efficient) note in our interaction with staff. We were pleasantly surprised to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room but astounded that the only cups provided were cardboard. Once we had used these cups our only choices for a second round of tea/coffee was to resurrect the cups from the bin and wash them or request replacement cups. When we asked for fresh cups, we were told that it would be some time before they could be brought to the room. (We were happy to wait at reception for them but this was not agreed to.). China cups would have been more in keeping with the standard of the hotel. Our room was well appointed but quite small, involving some crab walking to move along the side of the bed once we had placed personal items against the wall. Only one comfortable chair was in the room.. We appreciated the efficient and helpful advice from stuff who gave us directions for getting into the centre of town and to Vielle Lyon. From the point of view of value for money, we found ourselves in the position of having to pay half as much again for one night of our stay as we did for the other. I was extremely disappointed that Agoda would not allow us to change our booking from one night (as in the original booking) to two. We were forced to take a second separate booking for the second night, involving a rocketing price. I would expect to be able to manage my booking on-line, especially when it did to involve cancellation.

Well, normally I'm a fond of serviced apartments so to find this property seemed to be a real luck. In fact the apartments itself are not bed: they were clean and spacious and had a kitchenette with quite a big fridge. But why its staff works in hospitality sphere if they almost hate visitors??? A lady on reception paid no attention to us when we tried to check in, and it took a lot to finally make her to stop chatting with cleaning lady and turn to us. Do you think she turn with a pleasant smile? No: she accused us in being impolite when trying to attract her attention! And if it had been the only incident... Others receptionists were just indifferent which was almost nice after dealing with the first lady. Otherwise it was ok apart from a fact that making up room here seemed not to include washing up. Doesn't matter, it's not a big deal to do it ourselves. Bear in mind that the property is not in the city center, but transportation is handy with metro station literally next door to the apartment. One of them had even shouted at me when I tried to get internet access; others were indifferent at best).

It’s a well located and the staff are very friendly to give advice on where and what to visit in Lyon. Everything works except you have to leave your key to the reception whenever you leave the hotel. It’s a pity there’s no kettle or fridge in the room. But they do provide free coffee and tea at the lobby which is quite nice designed area. WiFi is slow everywhere in France even though it’s 4G and even using my personal prepaid card.

Location near Lyon Perrache Station. Easy to commute around. We bought a 24 hrs ticket so it was easy to get around Lyon. Room was ok. Bed comfy enough. Didnt like that the sinks/wash basin is in the room instead of toilet/bathroom as the floor wet easily. Kettle and coffee provided in room but was only provided with plastic cup! At least should provide paper cup, which i luckily brought from my previous hotel in Switzerland.

The hotel is situated 6 tram stops away from Lyon Part-Dieu Railway Station, but it is in the inside streets away from the main tram road. Nice and quiet neighbourhood. The rooms are clean and tidy but a bit small and crowded. Free wifi connection though a bit slow in some times. Many good restaurants nearby and the staff would introduce you. The breakfast was not as rich as we thought of. The same price could dine better at Part-Dieu Commercial Centre.

Last night I had a friend who came to visit me. When we were going up the stairway the receptionist stop him and speak in French without explaining what is it about. Later my friend said the receptionist was questioning him making my friend feels like we are being condemn of something. First, he is my guest, I came to Lyon to visit him. Anything the receptionist should talk to me, I am the customer of the hotel. Second, speaking in French ignoring me is really rude, I would stop the receptionist on the spot if I knew what is going on. Third, if the property does not allow guest to visit in the room or any concerns, should tell me when I bringing my friend, I can always let my friend wait at the lobby. Lastly, it is very offensive that the receptionist talk to my friend condemning or making stupid suspects on us.

I traveled with my mom and we extended our stay in Lyon, stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. It was a bit stuffy in the room during the end of August. Our room is not air-conditioned, but it has a fan, which is not bad. It'll be perfect if the room is on a higher floor, then you can open the window with the help of the fan to cool down. Ca marche! But ours is on the 3rd (In France, it's 2nd). We have to close the window during our sleep. Inconveniences: no hairdryer, not enough sockets for recharging computers and cellphones. (Only one extra, besides those for the TV, fan, and other appliances in the room...) The hotel is close to the station, but a bit far from the vieux Lyon. The people at the counter are friendly and very helpful, which is the plus!
