Excellent value for money”
Decided to book hotel the morning I was due to fly to Berlin for three days rather than stay on the floor of friends! AGODA, as ever, came up with an great number of choices, and Econtel Hotel Berlin Charlottenburg was the nearest and most reasonable to my friends. Wonderfully situated, within easy reach of buses and U-bahn, lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Very efficient and friendly staff when I arrived near midnight because of delayed flights! I recommend and WILL return.

the econtel provides a very good quality hotel at reasonable cost as long as you're prepared to live outside the centre in charlottenberg. travel into the centre is very easy - there's a metro station just down the road and a busstop outside the hotel that will take you to zoo station. it is possible to walk into the centre along the landwehr canal which is very pleasant in the summer and takes you past the zoo and the bauhaus museumj and ends up at the potsdam platz museum complex in one hour. alternatively catch a boat. there's plenty to do in charlottenberg and the hotel provides an excellent breakfast.

Great for jumping on the bus for early morning flights”
The good: Location is great for bus access to the airport in early mornings. Takes only about 15 minutes to get to TXL. Being near the river is a nice bonus as well. There's a nice place to have a beer by the river and chill out Berlin style. Staff is friendly and helpful. The room I got was cleaned daily. The not so good: Internet speed is the slowest I experienced in all my travels around Europe. And it keeps asking you to log back in. There is no air con and no fan, which is not good for Berlin in summer months.

Above average amenities for a budget hotel”
The room and bed is small, but just as expected in this price range. Employees provided excellent service. Convenient for the airport and S-Bahn into the city. The restaurant was pretty good. I was not expecting a decent restaurant at a budget hotel like this one.

Good for stopover”
If you plan a stopover and plan to travel by public transport, especially from and to Berlin Tegel airport, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel. Staff was supportive and check-out was quick.

we'd requested check-in early when booking online and we arrived at 7 in the morning and were not greeted properly or friendly; no greetings. the first thing that came out of her mouth was that all the rooms were dirty at the time and the check-in time is 3pm. and she said if we got lucky which we did we could check-in at around 11am. the staff was so not friendly and in some parts were kinda rude - i almost felt like discriminated. they were nice and talking and laughing with other guests who're germans, not so much to us. the hotel itsel is quite good. WIFI is NOT FREE. 5 Euro for 24 hours, which sucked. where is the free wifi? the receptionist pointed to a 90's desktop next to the desk. that's a computer with dial-up internet access, not wifi.

Overall, I am satisfied with the hotel.. Good location (near to airport), a good sized supermarket around the corner and accessible to bus stops and train station. However, the front desk male staff I encountered during the day and evening are not up to par.. Not friendly and seemed to treat their jobs like a chore...

Their wifi is awful. For a hotel that prides itself on dedicating an entire floor to business travellers this is simply not acceptable. They cannot deal with prides of school kids who suddenly max out the bandwith via their utube use.

People on the roof by our window”
Everything was great except for the other tenants walking in front of our open windows on the roof. We did not feel safe nor like we had any privacy.

Noisy and Hot, with Heavy Dose of Mosquitos”
Our room on the 5th floor was very hot because of the temperature outside. Fans were not available. We had to leave the window opened, which meant we had to cope with the loud noises outside (a busy street below) as well as an infestation of mosquitos. My body is covered with bites. The only saving grace was that the hotel is walking distance to the Deutsche Opera and close to Tegel Airport. We will not be back.
