“A week at the Hilton Colombo”
We stayed for seven nights and chose the Hilton Colombo for its central location and strong security. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt truly special. Our room was 1513 and our room attendant, Avintha, provided excellent service throughout our stay. The room and bathroom were consistently very clean, with thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers and charming towel sculptures. The team at Graze restaurant, including Fiona, were also wonderful and regularly went out of their way to provide warm and attentive service. There were a few hiccups at the start of our stay. We were initially allocated a room on Level 11 (1106). As we arrived after a long flight at 1.30am, we did not fully check the room until the following morning, when we noticed it had not been serviced prior to our arrival and still contained items from the previous guest. There was also an issue at check in, as room keys were temporarily unavailable and we needed to return to reception after breakfast to collect them. In hindsight, having the keys delivered to the room would have been a nice touch. We contacted the manager in charge, Bharshi Perera, who addressed the situation promptly and professionally. She arranged for us to move to a room on Level 15 with expansive ocean and city views and kindly treated us to a complimentary buffet dinner. What really stood out was how efficiently and thoughtfully the situation was resolved. Another highlight of our stay was the large pond at the hotel, home to beautiful black swans and large fish. Watching the gentleman wade through the pond each day to feed them, with the swans and fish following along like the Pied Piper, was unexpectedly delightful and very entertaining. Overall, I would happily recommend the Hilton Colombo to anyone looking for a centrally located modern hotel offering spacious rooms, great views, exceptionally comfortable beds, and genuinely warm customer service from the security staff and porters through to the room attendants, restaurant team and management. Would we stay at the Hilton Colombo again? Absolutely!
