“A disappointment”
First of all, this hotel is further in from the main road, down a slope. The nearer one to the main road is Hotel Santa Maria, a 4-star. However, when I checked online it says the hotel (Hotel Santa Maria) is like 2.8km away (confused). We had dinner in Hotel Santa Maria and we felt welcomed. I'm quite disappointed with this particular hotel mainly because of the two lady workers I encountered. First the receptionist that never smiled and just gave me sour face all the time. No matter whether I smile or make request or expressing gratitude. But she turned to another couple (who spoke maybe Portuguese or at least not Asian like me, I speak English) and smiled broadly. Secondly, another lady that gave me a really "cold" stare when we wanted to go out at 6:30am to attend the 7am mass. The main door of the hotel is locked. We were of course unaware that there is "curfew". Of course, it is inevitable for her to wake up and open the door for us. Later on, when we went for the breakfast, we were the only couple that were asked for room number for "verification" purposes. I don't feel welcome in this hotel and it is disappointing considering this is a land for Catholic pilgrimage. I mainly have issues with the staffs's attitude and a comment on the distance that we have to walk from the main road. Other than that, the room is quite lovely.
