Very quite comfortables rooms”
Hotel room was very comfortable, big two queen size beds, nice tv, nice view i mean i really liked it. Japan town is just a great place to be in, san francisco can get to you, but japan town just puts you in the zone you feel everything is ok, such a clean and elegant part of town i love it. I liked it all Hotel and the area around, buss is just in front of the hotel, 7 minutes you are in union square, just 2 dollars ride.

Good Hotel for Price”
My boyfriend and I were in San Francisco for the Outside Lands music festival. This hotel was very affordable compared to others in the area. We enjoyed its strategic location and surroundings. A lot of good places to eat around it and very easy access to other locations near it. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others on a budget.

loved it”
staff was VERY helpful and efficient. They hustled to give us an early (10:00am)check in so we could leave our bags and take off for the day. Rooms were well appointed. great bedding. Loved the decor. We had a room on the 7th floor with a very pleasant view. great light. We loved the location: Quiet yet close to Japan town, Filmore, Pacific heights etc. Great walks. we will come back for sure !

Perfect for the value”
Our stay was pleasant, mostly due to the nice staff. We were disappointed to learn their was not a free breakfast although the site that we booked through said there was. Our in-room radio and tv remote also didn't work, but we didn't give the hotel a chance to fix these since we were staying such a short period of time. My last complaint is that the hotel itself didn't have a restaurant, but there is an independently owned Japanese restaurant in the building that doesn't satisfy. The pros: We were happy that it was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room was nicely decorated. We were glad to find on-site garage parking even if we had to pay for it. It was a short walk to places to eat and some shopping. The free wine hour was lovely as well as the nicely decorated lobby. You can check out free bicycles to explore the area from the front desk. For the price, it was nice, but the staff really treat you like you're in a 5-star hotel, which is rare these days :)

Great hotel condition in a nice neighbourhood”
Forget about the ridiculously-priced paid parking when you can park your car along the street at night. Hotel Tomo - a Joie de Vivre Hotel is situated in a nice Japanese neighbourhood so you would feel safe during the day and night. Book this hotel only if you have a rental car with you throughout your stay. Better than any hotels in the city centre where parking is difficult to find and expensive. Hotel room was comfortable and spacious. Generous with amenities was a plus point. Clean and good for a few nights' stay.

Cool hotel - good value”
Check in staff were friendly and efficient. The room was large, clean and had some cool design features (like lamps and fittings). The bathroom wasn't the most modern but was clean and worked well. Vending machines were all out of water when we stayed but no big deal. Long walk or short-ish cab ride to main tourist attractions. Pretty good location, especially if you have a car. Slightly disappointing to pay an extra $30 odd bucks for parking but seemed to be the going rate in SF - hotel was good and let us leave the car in the garage later in the day well after check out.

Excellent”
Great hotel in the heart of Japantown. We were travelling with our infant and the hotel was more than accommodating , the room was big enough with our stroller and they provided us with a pack and play. Location is away from the hustle and bustle, 20-30 minute walk to union square.

Good and friendly hotel”
The hotel was pleasant with a manga style for the nostalgics of the 90's. The cleanliness could be better but nothing awful. It is easy to ask for a shuttle to the airport that is going to cost . The neighborhood (Japan town) is also nice. The restaurant on the first floor is decent. I Will definitely stay there again Good if you are looking for a compromise between price and good standards.

Japantown”
My friends and I had a great stay at Hotel Tomo. The staff was friendly and helpful. We liked the quiet neighborhood and the fact that it was close enough to get to Union Square via public transportation, but yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. We also liked that the Japantown mall is less than a 5-minute walk away from the hotel where we could get quite a few things from Japan, like books, stationery, and other goods here in America rather than flying to Japan to get those things.

cute hotel”
Room is bigger than you can expected. its bright and i really liked the colors and paintings of the wall. But i cant say the price is resonable since the hotel price of SF is way too expensive. The dining room atmosphere is not bad but please please dont order Japanese food. I had Kyudon for 10$ and it was my worst Japanese style meal ever...!

hotel tomo”
Over all it was good, there was an earthquake and no tv cable access so the hotel allowed me to hire a movie and gave me a refund on it. The hotel is clean and modern, the cleaners did not refresh the toiletries even though they were used (before I stayed by the previous occupant)

Always great”
I’ve stayed here several times over the past year and am never disappointed - it’s very quiet even on the 2nd floor. Super comfy bed and linens. My Favorite SFO hotel.

Japan right at home”
If one is an Anime fan, the themes and decor of the hotel will suit your liking. even if that's not your style, the design aspects of the facility are cutting edge, artistic and a pleasure to be around.

Value for money in convenient location”
If you are looking for a great location away from the tourist traps, this is it. Rooms are very clean, staff is welcoming and helpful and within walking distance you can find great restaurants, cafes and boutiques. A bus stop is across the street and within 5 minutes you are at Union Square. Internet access is provided for free.

Design Hotel, but incomplete”
it used to be a Best Western and they are in the process of making a design hotel out of it. the room was large with Japanese style furniture and fixtures, although it still had the old Best Western carpet. The structure of the room is very eighties, so not very functional for nowadays needs in terms of power outlets, bathroom look,... Bath amenities are great though,...

Exceptional”
Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Love the location and my children were in love with the “balcony” in the room where they spent a lot of time taking in the sights and relaxing.

Mixed feelings”
I travel to SF frequently, and I normally stay at a different hotel, but this one had a better price and I decided to try it out. The hotel itself was a little run down, but the room was large and very comfortable and super clean. I liked it. Overall, it was very Japanese –– a little weird and wacky, but only somewhat wonderful. I was planning on staying there again, until I had a terrible encounter with one of the staff members, who was very rude. I emailed the manager, and he offered me a discount on my next stay, if I returned. I'll have to think about it.
