Pulau Perhentian Kecil hotels & places to stay

The resort is situated right next to Long Beach Jetty. It's the best hotel/resort that you can find in Perhentian Kecil Island. Resort provides 24/7 electricity. Room is clean but the bathroom light is a bit dim. If you stay at room near to the hotel electricity generators, you could feel a bit noisy in the afternoon, but it is quiet at night and so you would not have any problem to sleep at night. Wifi could be a bit slow at night, but the resort provides computers for internet surfing at lobby. 4G signal from Maxis is strong and available in the entire resort area (I'm not too sure about other telcos), thus if you are travelers and want high speed internet connection, I recommend you buying a 4G sim card from Maxis before coming to the island.

this is my first time to pulau perhentian kecil, shari -la could be the second large hotel in this small island but location of the hotel is just very unusual, its just beside the jetty,all the rooms are at a higher elevation and deep in a rain forest jungle . rooms are in wooden design with a very malay culture look.room rate was reasonable.will introduce the place to friends.

It's nearer to get to the place from Coral Bay as the jetty is closer. It's a bit of a hike up the hill but not that bad. Look for signs of Tropicana as it's the same as Tivoli. I was surprised to see my room which was very comfortable and clean. For the price it offers, it's extremely value for money. The receptionists are friendly and welcoming and they immediately offered a bottle of water seeing how tired we were. I would definitely recommend this place to whomever wishes to visit Perhentian Kecil. I've been to a few chalets on the island and by far Tivoli is one of the best ! Thank you Tivoli 😊

Located at the middle of Long Beach in Perhentian Kecil, in my opinion,Tropicana is the best resort on the island as as far as cleanliness is concerned. I have checked most of the resorts here and they are all middle or low end. Tropicana is a bit away from the party places and the restaurants (2 mins. walk), it's a perfect place if you don't want to be disturbed and want to get a good nights sleep and relax. All in all, I had a fabulous time on my first stay in Tropicana so much so I have been there 5 times now when I go to Perhentians for my diving. Each time has been the perfect escape from the trappings of modern civilisation allowing me to reconnect with nature in its most basic pristine form. I am a little surprised when I read some of the negative comments about Tropicana on some reviews as they don't reflect my experience at all. I can only assume that some travellers were totally unprepared for back to basics nature of the place and were too blinkered by modern civilisation to appreciate the more simple pleasures that this place offers. I am glad that I wasn't swayed by some of these comments before I decided to go. The only negative point about this place is as mentioned in some reviews, many of the staffs there don't speak English and they need some training to deal with the guests. Other than that this is a good place for a great retreat.

The resort is the cleanest in Pulau Perhentian. Location is a little bit secluded with limited access to the beach and limited restaurant choice. There is hot water in the room and the rooms are very spacious. You will need to walk a little bit to the rooms, hence if you are travelling with old people and children, the higher rooms are less suitable. Good place if you are looking to take a break from the busy city.

Stay is good, room clean and nice, next to beach. One of the better accom for a dive trip, compare to those dive centre. Theres a mini shark point just in front of the hotel, next to the arrival jetty. Every morning there will be a parade of baby black tip shark swimming around this area, 10-15 of them and is shallow enough for snorkelling. There also a short hiking trail behind the hotel, which take about 20min to the top of pulau perhentian kecil. Theres a windmill on top of the hill and nice scenery.

Elegí el Ombak Dive Resort porque quería tener una habitación más similar a la idea de hotel que las cabañas que hay en las Perhentian y en las que no he tenido buenas experiencias. El resort está muy bien cuidado, hay mucha gente limpiando, son bastante amigables y la habitación, que estaba en la primera planta, fue perfecta. Solo tienen WiFi en el café y la recepción y la contraseña la cambian a diario, pero vamos, que tampoco molesta tanto y una vez estás allí te desconectas del mundo. En este lado de la isla Pulau Kecil, si te compras una tarjeta prepago para el teléfono, asegúrate que es Xpax, la marca prepago de Celcom.

Friendly staff. Given Perhentian hotels are expensive compared to KL and many other parts of Asia, this was great value. Great location (many rooms have sea view from balcony) and the restaurant was over the water. Rooms were clean and power was on all day. 5 minute walk to ferry jetty. Quiet beach but if you want the noise and party of long beach, is only a 10-15 minute walk away. Long beach is probably better for swimming but Senja Bay is located on Coral Bay so there is some coral for snorkeling.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon after being moved on arrival from BuBu resort just down the beach. We were very happy with our room, the staff and all of the delicious food we ate at the world cafe. The hotel is right on a lovely part of long beach and has lots of sun beds for guests to use on the beach free of charge. The staff were lovely and helped us organise a brilliant snorkelling trip which we thoroughly enjoyed! The sea life is incredible we loved spotting sea turtles as well as reef sharks and many different types of tropical fish. The room rate was a bit high for what you get but it is the nicest accommodation on Kecil. We will never forget our stay, we loved Perhentian Kecil it is a real hidden gem of an island.

Went in a group of 4. Staffs were so damn welcoming and easy to mingle with. Cleanliness is decent for a wooden traditional house, there will still be sand on the floor and most probably in your room. But, you are at a beach, what do you expect? Don't come here if you're particular about comfort and cleanliness. For a guy like me who is fine as long there is a bed and the air is clean, no mosquitoes, you should definitely choose here!!! Something to take note, there will be no electricity in the day time after 715am if not wrong, everyone automatically wakes up hahah. You would not wanna choose here if u wanna sleep until afternoon as it can get warm in the room without fans turned on.
