New and beautiful hotel. One of the best experiences in Sri Lanka. But not all staff spoke English well, and not all staff were attentive to the guests either. There's room for improvement. The dinner was tasty but pricey. I also tried the Ayurveda massage in the hotel. The massage itself was good. But they can do better to enhance the whole experience e.g. dim the ...

We loved this place, a little over priced but I'd still go back. Staff are amazing, very on point with there advice and made us feel like VIP at all times. Only one thing that I could suggest to the hotel and any fellow travellers if you book a safari for the morning where warm clothes as we left the hotel in the usual attire for Sri Lanka being shorts and shirt but ...

The best thing was our ranger, who took us on a safari to Udawalawe National park. He was so knowledgeable and always made sure we were happy to move on after spotting animals. The hotel also arranged a tuk tuk for us to the elephant transit home, where we saw baby elephants being fed. A great experience. I would say food was a bit basic but absolutely fine for a 1 ni...

We can highly recomend Elephant Trail Hotel! Its in the middle of nowhere, but you feel like you have everything! Very nice and helpfull staff, always willing to provide you the best service:) We stayed for 3 nights before we moved on down south. We went for a safari tour of 8 hours that started at 5:30 in the morning, this was arranged by the hotel, and what a nice da...

Very nice hotel with family rooms and comfortable beds and rooms. They organise tours with jeeps twice a day to go to Udawalewa. Udawalewa is great to see elephants, buffalos and birds. Hotel can organise other tours (we visited the manor house, it was interesting). This hotel is great for families as it is quiet, there is a large garden where children can play, a play...

Owners were lovely and very helpful. Food was abundant and tasteful. the owner didn't speak English well but we understood without problem. The swimming pool was small but enough for a great swim and very clean. She was very helpful and helped us in every type of problem we encounter in or stay. The owner helped us to book a jeep for the Safari at the Udawalawe Park. T...

Clearly this was the best hotel ever for our honeymoon celebration ! Very uncommon, middle of forest and atypical ! You should not go in Sri Lanka without at least spending one night here. The staff is so welcoming that they make you feel as a prince and princess. I’m suggesting this place to all person I know!

Beautiful place. They are the pioneers of Eco tents so they can well anticipate the requirements and needs of guests. Tents have been recently refurbished so as good as new. There's wifi in the common rest area. FLUSHABLE Toilets and shower in the tents. Tents are nicely zipped up so bugs won't come in. There's a mosquito diffuser provided. Plugs, fan, towels, proper b...

Boulder Garden Hotel is literally built around a majestic boulder. The hotel is built around the rain forest; it slips into the setting rather than forcing itself unnaturally in the environment. Because of this seamless integration, you get to wake up and fall asleep to the sound of rainforest birds and the wind of the rainforest. It's off to the beaten track, so th...

We were 2 families. 4 adults and 4 children - ages 8 - 14. They treated us like royalty and made sure we were comfortable at all times. The kept the camp area clean and tidy. We arrived around 7 p.m. in the dark, the last 80 kms of our journey by tuc tuc which ran out of fuel on the way. Directions to this place are actually 4 km away at a restaurant of the same name/ownership. They at least provided a motorbike guide to help otherwise you would never find it. Our booking had not been received as the internet was down. That's all the neg...

I can't say enough about how great this place is! The rooms are basic but comfortable, clean and the bathroom/shower was perfect after a long hot safari day. There is one room option that was entirely open air that looked REALLY neat too. The food was delicious - we ate all of our meals here - and the staff was beyond wonderful. If you stay I 100% recommend using thei...

Baby Elephant Green House was a great stay for us. Very close to the wildlife park entry and walking distance to the village. The hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I recommend having dinner there, the owners home cook the meals and it is an authentic experience. Very highly recommend

We really enjoyed our stay at Birds Paradise and the 6 hour morning safari they organised for us. We saw so many animals and our guide was excellent. Cosy little spot in this area, the hosts are friendly helpful and organised a safari for us the next morning. The food here is delicious home cooked food, it was a feast! If your ever in Udawalawa this place is great I highly recom...

Arrived to be told our room had been "double booked" & they were moving us to their "sister hotel". Sister hotel was in an out-of-village location & prided itself on being the oldest hotel in Uda Walawe - it was obvious it was also in the worst condition - a total downgrade. We gather the overbooking happens a bit but would be weary booking Hotel Athgira again as it'...

We were so lucky to get the ch...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights to enjoy the safaris at udawale national park. We arrived after a long drive from Colombo. The lodge has only 3 cabins so it is quaint. My boyfriend and I spent one night in the Eagle Safari Bungalow and we booked the Udawallawe safari with them (3000 rupees each). The room had an AC but the remote was not...

I stayed here for one night to break my 9 hour drive to Kumana park. The rooms were clean and bathrooms were new. Towels were clean. They have parking but finding the place was a bit difficult. Sadly no WiFi. All rooms have TV but no cable TV. Lots of mosquitoes in the area at night.

This was a lovely homestay, the place was immaculate, the price was so cheap, in a really nice spot on the lake, they had pushbikes you could take out unfortunately we did not have time as arrived at lunchtime then had a safari booked for 2pm. We spend 2 night here and everything was brilliant. The hotel was very very clean with all you need inside, Dinesh helped us for safari and taxi and for any other our request. Mohan was a lovely host. Him and his wife provided a welcome drink, laundry service. Rooms are a bit dated and tired, but still a good value for money. We also did the udawalave safari with Mohan and it was great, we were in the park among the first jeeps, we saw a lot of wildlife even with non-ideal weather. He seem to know which were the good routes to find animals....

Great hotel, not in town, and the location is beautiful. Be prepared for a lot of mosquitos, you're in the country! We arranged a safari through the hotel at a great rate. You can expect gracious, friendly, and helpful hospitality from your hosts at Serene Home Stay. My room was immaculate and comfortable, and the property is lush, and, well, serene. It wasn't the fanciest. It didn't have a breathtaking view. But the Owl's Nest was my favorite of the places that I stayed during my vacation in Sri Lanka.
