If you are visiting Koh Lanta I absolutely recommend you stay here, probably one of the best places I've ever stayed and I travel extensively. "

"The staff couldn’t be nicer or more helpful! Our snorkeling trip to Koh Rock and Ko Ha was arranged through the hotel and it was fantastic! They also rented us a scooter for getting around the island at $200 baht per day. They also arranged our transportation back to Krabi. Everything went smoothly because they know how to take care of the details. There are so many beaches on Ko Lanta, so the location of Cottage Hill is very convenient. You are only a short scooter ride (10-15 minutes) from almost every beach on the west coast. There are also several beaches within walking distance (5-10 minutes). We stayed for six nights in the newer cabins at the top of the hill. If you need a hot water kettle or a hair dryer don’t worry about it because they have you covered. Thanks to everyone at Cottage Hill for making our holiday in Koh Lanta even more enjoyable! "

"I was lucky enough to be the first guest at the newly refurbished Tonmai Suites last month. I stayed for a week in the luxurious Suite A with a beautiful wrap around balcony and views out to sea and down the lovely street to Old Town. The photos show exactly what you can expect to experience - fabulous new furniture, fittings, artwork, and gorgeous linens in the rooms - lovely common areas (with great fresh ground coffee available all day) - and an absolutely beautiful tropical garden for all to enjoy. This property is under all-new Management and Business partners Jen and Darren are lovely hosts who have worked very hard over the last few months to bring it up to the high standard it deserves - and their hard work has paid off - it's absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend anyone looking to stay in Lanta Old Town to experience this amazing place. Ignore all of the old reviews, they are no longer relevant - you'll have an outstanding stay here, and I can't wait to go back! "

"The hotel is located in a quiet area across the road from Khlong Nin beach and adjacent to a number of small bars and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The have a small travel desk on site and set up day tours and transfers when leaving. The breakfast was cooked to order and a little above average. Rooms were comfortable and worth the price. First time I have been to Koh Lanta so I don't have anything to benchmark against but the value was good compared to Phuket and Phi Phi. "

"A twenty or so bungalows, situated in a quiet garden, with a lot of space between them. Some have airco, some a fan. Some are old-fashion thai-style (on poles, wood and bamboo), most are modern, concrete. Ours (old fashion style) had the basic things we expect in a bungalow, except a fridge. Closet water pipe leaks a little, toilet door swings open all the time, we repair it. Two minutes walking along a path between trees leads to a fine beach, with three other small resorts with restaurant and bar, and Samita Travel Agency with a good humoured and alert lady. That small distance makes Sun Moon a relatively quiet place, where in the night we enjoyed the concert of the frogs. We kept our food well locked, because first day there were some monkeys quite eager to share our fruit. Sometimes a monitor lizard crossed our way to the beach, and we saw some pond herons tread on the water leaves. There were the usual minahs, doves and coucals. That beach is one of the last beaches in the south. Our taxidriver asked 800 Bht to bring us, but after some dealing was content with 500 Bht, and it took half an hour. The owner (Tum) and his wife do their best to maintain everything, but it was clear they lacked some capable staff. There is wifi at the entrance at the street, and there are also a restaurant and a bar (with pool billiard). The young bartenders seemed to love loud music (pop, reggae), but were quite willing to turn the level down when asked. Rental of motobikes is offered by the travel agency, and by the shop/restaurant at the opposite of the street. Another restaurant and one other shop are at walking distance. Elephant trekking round the corner, and the National Park with its beautiful trail and beaches is on two minutes motobike distance. I noticed some nasty remarks on internet about the owner and his temper. I can only add that to us Tum appeared as maybe a little bit stressed, but very friendly, courtious and helpful, as well as his wife. "
