This is a wonderful hostel located in Jakarta's Old Town (Jakarta Kota Tua) in Indonesia. You can meet travelers visiting Indonesia from various countries, and there are plenty of sights, delicious food, and activities nearby. It is conveniently situated within walking distance to Chinatown. The famous Cafe Batavia in Jakarta Old Town is also very close, and right across from it are the Indonesia Financial Museum and Mandiri Bank Financial Museum, making it easy to access the Trans Jakarta Bus line No. 1 heading towards Jakarta city. Additionally, Stasiun Jakarta Kota, the Jakarta city rail station, is right in front, which serves Indonesia’s national railway and urban subway. During my week-long stay here, what I appreciated most was the friendliness of the staff working at the hostel. Their kindness went beyond simply smiling and greeting; they actively tried to help with anything needed and made a strong effort to meet the travelers' needs, which I am very grateful for and highly commend. In the communal area on the first floor of the accommodation, you can easily cook with simple food or ingredients, and the hostel also offers a variety of Indonesian and foreign dishes at good prices, which is great to take advantage of. I had breakfast a few times during my stay, and I found it delightful that they provided delicious food at affordable prices. While Jakarta is honestly not the easiest city for travel, there are still some attractions worth visiting, and this accommodation provides detailed guidance on those. Therefore, if you are visiting Jakarta for the first time, I would recommend this place. I stayed in a relatively small cabin, but the bed was comfortable, allowing me to sleep well, and I made good use of the pillow and towel. Additionally, there is a separate locker inside the cabin where I could safely store my personal bag using the locker key received at check-in, and there is also a large communal locker for bigger suitcases or larger luggage, which is another strong point of this accommodation. Now, let me share briefly some points that I found disappointing during my stay. First, there were many mosquitoes in the common area of the accommodation. I was a bit disappointed that I struggled with mosquitoes throughout my stay. It is true that mosquitoes are prevalent throughout Jakarta, so I can't entirely blame the hostel for this, but it was the most uncomfortable aspect for me. Second, the cabin I stayed in had no windows, so ventilation was poor. Consequently, I couldn’t avoid the musty smell from the air conditioning, which was also disappointing. Third, while the internet speed in the communal area was decent and relatively convenient, using the internet in the rooms was almost impossible. The issue seemed to be both speed and the fact that there were too many users for the facilities installed, making it difficult to handle the demand. However, it did connect well during the early morning hours. Lastly, the number of bathrooms and showers seemed a bit insufficient considering the number of guests. The restrooms are separated for men and women, but as there are primarily male guests, one might have to wait a long time to shower in the morning and evening. The staff cleans daily, and while they do a good job, the older building sometimes has drainage issues, and there were places in the shower without hooks to hang clothes, which I think needs improvement. Nonetheless, if I have another opportunity to visit Jakarta, I would like to use this hostel again. Almost all the staff who greeted and helped me with a smile every time I encountered them were wonderful. I want to express my gratitude to them.
